It is so easy to get wrapped up in the routine of putting others before you. I know I am not the only one who puts themselves last. Are the kids ok? How’s the house? How was my husband’s day? Did everyone eat today? Notice that none of those questions involve me. And no, I haven’t eaten today, and my coffee is still in the microwave, thanks for asking! One of my personal goals for 2018 is to make self care a priority. I need to slow down and treat myself well because I can only be the best wife, mom, and business owner I can if I feel my best…and one way I feel at my absolute best is when I hang out with my girlfriends!
Will You Be My Galentine?
Galentine’s Day is one of those occasions I look forward to every year. I think my friends would agree with me too! There’s something magical about planning a party to celebrate friendship.
I was lucky to get to host this Galentine’s party with my girlfriend, Nicole, who has a beautiful print shop, Palm to Pine Design. We had one goal when planning this party- make our friends feel special and fancy. We wanted them to feel like they were put first. That meant flowers, bright colors, good drinks, and extra sugar. Calories don’t count on holidays, right? I’ve created a Galentine’s Day Party Plan for you all, which includes ideas and recipes to the treats I made, but more on that later!
The Decor
I chose black and white to be the base of the party’s color pallete, then wanted lots of color pops. I definitely wanted some traditional pinks and reds, but I also liked the fun element lots of bright colors brought to this party-spring greens, orange, and even a bit of blue. Wine glasses with different colored cheers written on them, hot pink food signs, colored patterned place cards, and flowers of course.
Want to hear a fun story about that black and white XO tablecloth? This one is a doozy! So I wanted to have a big graphic tablecloth to bring a bit of contrast to the other feminine details of this party. I bought a cheap white tablecloth and some black acrylic paint. I spread the tablecloth on the floor of our bonus room, turned on some Ladies of London (why is this show cancelled? Andy Cohen, this show is gold.), and got to painting. I covered that baby in an X and O pattern and thoroughly enjoyed my naptime craft sesh.
Once I was done, I let it dry for a bit while I finished my show, then lifted up a corner and just about passed out. YOU GUYS. Can you take a guess on what happened? Yep. The WHOLE pattern bled through the tablecloth and onto my carpet like the biggest game of tic tac toe you’ve ever seen. I immediately sprung into action- carpet cleaner came out in full force, and the party gods were on my side because every drop of paint came out. It was as if it never happened…and my husband never had to know! ? But man…that tablecloth made for a darling table so well worth the drama!
The Food
Sugar, cocktails, and coffee were the priorities for this brunch..but we still had some real food thrown in there too! Egg muffins, bacon, fruit all made an appearance as well!
I LOVE a play on words. I’m sure you know this about me by now. This party was the perfect place for some fun custom food signs. Nicole made these using painted woods blocks and vinyl cut with the Cricut. I mean, cupcakes really are just muffins that believed in miracles! Truth.
Galentines Day Party Plan
Like I said above, this party really is one of my favorite traditions. It fuels my soul and gives me a self care boost that is always needed after the holiday high. I want you to have the same experience, so I’ve created a Galentine’s Day Party Plan just for you! A complete guide on decor (both DIY and purchase), menu plans with recipes, dessert table tips, guides on setting a pretty table, little gifts to give your girlfriends, and some fun, easy games/activities to make your party extra fun!
