You’re generating content, managing your business, pitching yourself daily…but what helps you stand out from the other businesses out there doing the same thing?

Your relationships with your audience and clients!

Why is building strong relationships with your audience and consumers so important?

Building strong relationships with your audience can help foster customer loyalty, trust and credibility, and long term growth through repeat business, referrals, word of mouth, etc.

You want your audience to feel like they have a connection with you, your brand, and your business! When you and your audience have a good relationship, there is also an opportunity created for direct feedback. You can develop a relationship where you are able to learn what your audience needs and how you can fulfill those needs. All of these different benefits created from a strong relationship will help better your business for your audience.

What actions can I take to start building these relationships?

Think about a person, brand, or business you trust, why do you trust them?

What makes them trustworthy?

People who show their authenticity and are consistent in their actions/promises, are able to build trust with me the fastest. Don’t you feel the same? People connect with people. When you’re not acting like a person I want to get to know…I’m not attracted to you.

People like to be able to rely on someone. When you show your authentic self, in all aspects of your business, consistently, you are apt to gain trust within your audience.

Let’s talk specifics…

Your content should always be providing value to your audience.

Your audience should feel like you are creating something to be of use and help them. Ask yourself when you are creating, what value is this adding to my audience’s life? What are they learning or gaining from engaging with my content?

You should be posting consistently, cross-platform.

This can easily look different for each business, person, or brand. Depending on your goals, you might need to put more focus in one area rather than another. This could look something like, one email every other week, 3 Pinterest posts a day, 2 Instagram stories a day, and one TikTok a month. Follow the money!

Understand what platforms best serve you and your business and distribute your content accordingly, then be consistent about it.

Make yourself relatable to your audience.

Share things about your life! Show us YOU! Make your content a way for people to not only get to know your business but get to know you as well. This can be done in several ways, picking what feels most natural to you to ensure your most authentic self is being communicated to your audience. Don’t be afraid to share things like your mistakes or how your business operates behind the scenes, what’s going on in your personal life, mom life, hobbies, favorite shows, books, etc.

Let your audience get the inside scoop on you and your biz through your content.

Create a good way to receive feedback from your audience.

Allowing two-way communication from you to your audience will not only help your audience but also, help you and your biz! This is where you can practice listening and adapting. Pay attention to your audience feedback, learn from it, and change accordingly to help improve your business for both you and the consumer.

Working to create these relationships with your audience will benefit you and your customers. It’ll lead to long-lasting growth for your business and ride or die fans and customers for life. Connect! Improve! Sell!
