I just got a message asking why I was starting a podcast because I seemed so busy and how I was going to manage it all.

Good question…and you’re so right, my friend!

I am busier than I have ever been…but I am having the most fun I’ve ever had and something in my gut told me this is the time.

You may not know, but I am a big believer in the universe giving you what you need at the time you need it. I’ve shared the story of how I started my business before, but the idea came to me through a conversation I had with my girlfriends over Facebook Messenger. I was a new mom of two at the time, Hudson was 7 months old and I was completely drowning in my life and loss of identity as my own person. My whole life was dedicated to my kids, and that conversation gave me a glimmer of what if.

What if I followed this idea and made it into something?

What if it was actually successful?

What if I could get paid for doing something I love while staying at home with the kids?

What if I was able to help another mom make memories with her family?

I said the biggest and most important yes of my life and went for it. The universe, God, divine intervention, whatever you want to call it, made sure I was present for that conversation with my friends. It made sure I took action when my friend needed help with her party, and I truly believe it was not me who opened that Google Slides doc and started planning that First Fiesta. It was something or someone else guiding me, and showing me the thing that would change my life.

A year and a half later, I sit here writing this blog post as a different woman than I was that day. I’ve helped hundreds of women around the world plan parties and make memories with their families, I’ve been featured in Forbes as a “party-planning expert”, and I changed the life of my family because I was able to find the self-care necessary to be a great mom and wife.

So…why the podcast?

This is where the universe comes back in! I was sitting at Rachel Hollis’ personal development conference, Rise, and she was guiding us through a meditation envisioning where our life would be in 3, 5, 10, 20+ years. Within seconds of me thinking about where I wanted to be in my life and business, podcast popped in my head. I kind of pushed it out, because while I did think a podcast was a great next step for serving and growing my audience, it wasn’t something I wanted to take on. I kind of forgot about it for a couple months, and then start a podcast signs kept showing up in my life. I saw them in Facebook ads, listened to podcasts where guests said, “if you’re thinking of starting a podcast, do it,” and then had a dream of me sitting at my desk with a big microphone, recording a show.

Okay, okay, I hear you loud and clear!

Just like starting my business, I decided to say yes and figure out the rest later. I bought a microphone, googled how to record a podcast, YouTubed how to edit in Garage Band, and recorded some solo shows! I reached out to some of my internet friends and asked them to be guests, and scheduled interviews with them. I figured it out.

I realized women are craving something like this podcast. Something that gives them realistic ideas, that are not full of Pinterest promises but result in feeling overwhelmed or like a failure because your craft doesn’t look as cute as the one seen on someone’s blog. I’m over that mentality. It sucks the joy out of life and out of creating experiences for ourselves and our kids and that’s just horrible.

I can give you party advice all day long, but what about the rest of the year outside of your party season? What about special occasions, holidays, or milestones? Don’t those get to be celebrated too?

I am a busy mom.

I don’t have the time or energy to create these elaborate experiences week after week for my family…and I actually enjoy doing those things! But I do have the ability to set aside 30 minutes to an hour a week to celebrate or create memories with them. And I know you do too.

I also know I could write blogs and do Facebook lives/IGTV all day long about these ideas…but like you, I don’t have the time to sit down and watch a video most days. I do, however, always make time for my favorite podcasts. I can listen to them in the car, doing dishes, while I work, even in the shower! They fit in with my life, and because I am just like you in a similar stage of life, I’m guessing you feel the same.

This podcast is meant to serve busy women by giving them tangible tips and realistic ideas for making memories with their families. Simple, easy, fun, impactful, timeless, memorable experiences.

Why is the podcast called Memories in Moments?

This is actually another one of those meant to be, universe intervening situations! I’m telling you guys, this podcast willed itself into this world! When I was 13, my mom self-published a book called Memories in Moments. It is full of ideas, tips, and advice for moms to celebrate special occasions, milestones, and holidays. The goal was to give moms timeless ideas for creating memories and family traditions that are easy, affordable, but impactful. The goal of the podcast is exactly that. We are constantly hustling as busy moms. We’ve got so many balls in the air, time is not our friend, and we don’t need one more thing to add to our lives.

BUT, we also know the importance and value of slowing down to celebrate with our families. The ideas you’ll hear on the show are very realistic. They don’t require a lot of time and effort, prep, or money. They are simple and easy, and you’ll walk away with an opportunity to make memories after listening to every episode. I am focusing on impact with the least amount of effort…because those are the things I am constantly looking for when it comes to making memories with my own family! I do not think it is a coincidence that my mom published Memories in Moments in 1998, and I am launching the podcast version exactly 20 years later in 2018. Chills!

What can I expect from the show?

Tangible tips and realistic ideas for you to make memories in moments that’ll be cherished for a lifetime with your loved ones.

I’ve invited some amazingly talented guests to come on and share their tips and ideas as well! We have so many fabulous ideas coming your way! Some upcoming show topics include…
